journey into ʻiolani palace

Acknowledged and recognized widely as the physical and spiritual multicultural epicentre of Hawaii, Iolani Palace is a living and breathing restoration of the proud Hawaiian national identity.

Built in 1882 by King Kalakaua, it was the designated home to the nation’s last serving monarchs and regarded as the official royal residence for political and social figures – until the monarchy was overthrown in 1893.

Equipped with their smartphones and virtual reality goggles, visitors can take a 3D tour of the palace and explore as well as interact with the surroundings in stunning, immersive video, audio and photos.
